I realize that there would be no saving in network bandwidth, as the same number of files would still have to be sent. However, the consistency would be nice to have. Also, it would be useful if a node administrator could request this feature for all users at his or her node. One thing that's not absolutely clear in the 1.6a announcement is what criteria are used to decide when multiple recipients at different nodes will be addressed in the same file. Is it done if they are served by the same gateway or mailer?
