The FILE distribution mechanism of LISTSERV almost works like "internet distribution lists". Sites that run LISTSEND or something create messages that contain NO indication about the originator. The just come from LISTSERV. What about implementing an option for a list to specify that mail that arrives for the list with be just "prepended" by one received line from each listserv on the distribute path etc. On the last LISTSERV, i.e. at the place where the mail is given to a mailer, the SMTP MAIL FROM: should be set to the address that is supposed to get errors messages for this list or peer. Using this feature for some highly "network internal lists" on experimental base would eventually show benefits and disadvantadges. With network internal lists I mean lists like DEAR-BOD, EARNTECH etc. I do not know whether this feature requires that all listservs need an upgrade. If so, sorry for bothering you all. Regards
