I have implemented the following changes in the handling of 'Send= Editor' lists in release 1.6b: 1. Mail requiring editor's approval is sent via BSMTP as a single message, with original unchanged headers, and with a blurb inserted on top of the message body. REPLYing to that message allows the editor to ask more info from the sender, FORWARDing it back to the list is the new official way of "approving" the message for distribution, and the editor can of course still manually edit it into a digest or whatever. 2. The aforesaid blurb is automatically deleted is found in the body of a note sent to a moderated list. This deletion is done in such a way that, if the editor added some comments before forwarding the message (a la Rice MAIL), they will not be lost. That is, LISTSERV will not delete all the text from the top of the message but only what it has identified as being the blurb it inserted. 3. If 'Resent-' tags are found in a message sent to a moderated list and coming from an editor, an 'Approved-By:' tag pointing to the sender's address is generated but the generated 'From:' tag will point to the person listed in the original 'From:' tag, rather than 'Resent-From:', ie to the person who submitted the message rather than to the editor. Editors who make digests have no reason to forward their digests rather than mailing them directly, so they shouldn't be affected. 4. In the above case, the person who had originally submitted a message will get a copy of the forwarded message regardless of the setting of his REPRO option, as the editor might have added a comment or removed a paragraph or whatever. The editor will also get a copy, since the acknowledgements are sent to the original submitter and this is the only way he can check the note was sent; it will also look different from what he has mailed out. There is still time to change this if some people are not happy with it. Eric
