I received the following mail rejection message from a gateway in the UK and wanted to warn other Listserv maintainers. It seems that the gateway code constructs a mail header that Listserv doesn't recognize. Therefore the mail is sent to the list. This could easily lead to a loop condition, but for some reason that didn't happen in this case. In any event, I've served off the gateway. -jj ---------------- forwarded mail follows: >Received: by JHUVM (Mailer R2.07) id 2255; Sat, 15 Sep 90 08:54:08 EDT >Date: Sat, 15 Sep 90 13:52:38 LCL >Reply-To: 4ad recording artists list <[log in to unmask]> >Sender: 4ad recording artists list <[log in to unmask]> >Comments: Warning -- original Sender: tag was [log in to unmask] >From: UKC FTP Daemon <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Failure of your mail. >To: Jim Jones <[log in to unmask]> > >Your mail to uk.co.stc.stl failed when the file was transferred. >The mail at this host was to be sent to the follow addresses. > > [log in to unmask] > >This was due to an error at uk.co.stc.stl. >The reason given was: > > PP hard error message: data termination (2) failed ([USER] > submit/rd_rfchdr/No date field given) > PP rejected call at close (invalid recipient?) > >The body of your mail follows. > >Received: from earn-relay.ac.uk by kestrel.Ukc.AC.UK via Janet (UKC CAMEL FTP) > id aa03133; 15 Sep 90 13:49 BST >Received: from UKACRL by UK.AC.RL.IB (Mailer R2.03B) with BSMTP id 4007; Sat, > 15 Sep 90 13:48:42 BST >Received: from UKACRL by UKACRL.BITNET (Mailer R2.03B) with BSMTP id 3139; Sat, > 15 Sep 90 13:48:41 BST >Reply-To: 4ad recording artists list <[log in to unmask]> >Original-Sender: 4ad recording artists list <[log in to unmask]> >From: woj <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Re: 4ad 1990 Calendar >X-To: 4ad recording artists list <[log in to unmask] >Sender: [log in to unmask] > >u> >Date: Sat, 15 Sep 1990 13:48:41 BST >To: Multiple recipients of <[log in to unmask]> (text deleted...)
