Well, for the record, the list in question is SAS-L, a very very active list.
The log file requested contains 24,500 records.
 
Our gateway has the following parameter MAXMAILBYTES 512000
Unless I am calculating this wrong, thats 500k.
 
I just tried requesting this large log, from another VM system here, via
TCP.   OHSTVMA's gateway received negative reply, file too large.
 
SMTP on the other VM also has MAXMAILBYTES set to 512000.
