This morning, I sent an INDEX command without any qualifiers to the [log in to unmask] Listserv said the LISTSERV FILELIST was not found! Being a bit of a sceptic, I logged onto Listserv and did a CMS FILELIST. The file is there, but there are only a couple of file names in it. There are also none of the usual comments in the header about how to sort the file and the other stuff. The file now has only two or three lines indicating a couple of other filelists. I can INDEX other filelist's here. How did the listserv filelist become corrupt and how can the original filelist be restored? I can restore the file off backup tape, but would doing so solve the problem? What can be done to prevent this problem in the future? Could this problem have been caused by my renaming a list yesterday? Two days ago, I made a listserv list for someone, but I gave it the wrong name. I set it up as FINANC-L, but the owner wanted it to be FINANCE. To make this change, I renamed the list and cache files on listserv and changed their contents appropriately. Could this unorthodox method of renaming the list cause the problem with the listserv filelist? By the way, no one had posted anything to the finance list because it was moderated and the moderator did not know the list was ready for his use yet. There are also no subscribers to the finance list yet. Stan Horwitz Listserv Postmaster Temple University Acknowledge to: OASIS@TEMPLEVM (or VM.TEMPLE.EDU)
