> As a listmaster the ITESCO incident has forced me to review the lists > at my site, and to pass on the information to our listowners. One of my lists just got a *second* posting of the junk mail. I hope it was some kind of system glitch rather than an indication that we're all going to see it again. In spite of that kind of mass mailing, which is really rather rare, I see various advantages of SEND=PUBLIC. The two most obvious to me are that many poeple, some of whom are regular contributors, read list mail on local redistribution or via usenet. The usenet readers could, of course, reply via usenet, but most of them mail to the list instead since that's a more efficient way to participate in a list discussion gatewayed to usenet. --Natalie ([log in to unmask]) P.S. I liked your choice of an example of changing an address while ago, Melvin. :-)
