I have a local user for whom I have set up a list on our LISTSERV. This user, however, spends most of his time on FidoNet, and would like to be able to communicate with LISTSERV from there. The trouble is that some where in the gatewaying from FidoNet to Internet (it appears to go through UUCP), a 'bang' style address is being inserted in the mail header under the field "Sender:". LISTSERV sees this (or, perhaps, sees the difference in the "Sender:" and "From:" fields), thinks that it is dealing with error notification from a MAILER, and generates the appropriate error mail to me, and to the list owner. Am I in the ballpark as to what is happening? Anyone have a solution or a work around? I've included the error mail from LISTSERV (which includes the original incoming mail). Thanks in advance for any help. -Scott "Confused" Hammer VM Systems Engineer/LISTSERV Maintainer/Chief Cook and Bottle Washer College of William and Mary ---------------------- Error Mail from LISTSERV follows ----------------------- Received: by WMVM1 (Mailer R2.08) id 1595; Tue, 12 May 92 16:16:12 EDT Date: Tue, 12 May 1992 16:16:11 -0400 From: Revised List Processor (1.7b) <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Delivery error notice sent to LISTSERV To: Scott Hammer <[log in to unmask]>, [log in to unmask] The enclosed mail file, found in the LISTSERV reader and shown under the spoolid 1593 in the console log, has been identified as a possible delivery error notice for the following reason: mail origin seems to be a mailer or mail-daemon. ------------------------- Message in error (20 lines) ------------------------- X-Delivery-Notice: SMTP MAIL FROM does not correspond to sender.
