Date sent: 4-JUN-1992 18:41:17 Frequently, on the various lists that I subscribe to, individuals post groups of messages from other lists. Sometimes it is stated in the reposting that permission was received from the original poster and other times it is unclear whether this was sought. Having just started my first list, I have seen several postings on other lists that I have wanted to repost to my list. However, often the thread involves numerous related responses of interest and there quickly becomes too many people to contact individually. Thus, my question - are there standards of behavior defined for posting information from one list to another? Should one always ask for permission from the original poster or should you simply paraphrase and not contact the poster? How do you deal with a large group of related messages?
