Our computer center is pretty good about guest accounts, just as they are for all of us. Lots of our State Library and other non-BSU folks have accounts on our mainframe. Also, if I couldn't get you one or you were just here for a day or so, I'd just let you telnet on my account. Librarians attending ALA or other major conferences have at least one vendor, Faxon, providing free telnet service from an account on one of their machines to your home account to read mail, etc. They use 9600 dialup to their home 800 number and had 3 terminals setup at the ACRL conference in April. Hopefully they will have more in San Francisco later this month. I wonder if this happens at other professional conferences. Also, we have a couple of laptops that staff can checkout to take to conferences, consulting trips, etc. dan ***************************************************************************** * Dan Lester Bitnet: alileste@idbsu * * Associate University Librarian Internet: [log in to unmask] * * Boise State University * * Boise, Idaho 83725 BSU and I have a deal: I don't speak * * 208-385-1234 for them and they don't speak for me. * *****************************************************************************
