Hello everyone, I've got problem. I use to have a member of my list, who in the past would post very disrespectful messages to other members. He also went against the rules of my list by sending three posts totaling in excess of 5000 lines. I tried to privately explain the objections I had with his behavior, but to no avail. Finally, after many such attempts, I ended up removing his subscription, and threatening to contact his postmaster. Everything got back to normal after doing this. That was past history, taking place early this year. Now he's back, and posting from a NetNews system. I again wrote him privately and repeated my previous concerns (mentioning his new postmasters name). Apparently this former member has changed jobs, (different node), and is either confident of the position his new postmaster will take, or possibly doesn't feel that I'll actually go through with causing trouble for him. My question is this: If the worst does happen, and the new postmaster doesn't share my concerns, what are my options? My list is setup to be open, and I really feel strongly that as a Christian list it should remain so. I understand that I can request my own administrator to block traffic from his node (and this node is a very small site), but would this action apply to those who post through NetNews? Is there anything else I could do? I would be interested in what others have done with disruptive traffic from Netnews/Usenet systems. Thank you all in advance for any suggestions that you can give me. Christia owner Bitnet: ispmom@asuacad Madge McBurney Internet: [log in to unmask]
