I don't know the details how to do it but I have seen it done and I understand the principles well enough to be totally convinced. With the right equipment and knowledge, there won't be one disk unit in the whole network with the real origin logged. The only boxes which will have had a way to give a clue to the real origin of the message will have been IP routers, and these things process thousands of packets per second and certainly don't log their origin, destination, contents and the physical line from which they came as a matter of routine. If LISTSERV could easily detect forgeries it would do so. Eric
