I wait until things are slow, often a Friday afternoon, and do monthly maintenance at one fell swoop. I issue the STOP command, logon to Listserv and sendfile the logs to my id. Will later use DIGEST EXEC & store them to tape, floppy, print out or wherever. Then ERASE the files off whichever Listserv disk they are on. Start Listserv From my id, refresh all lists. I have a little ditty which runs every 5 AM from my id just in case the spool overflows or one of the list owners accidently locks his list. Saves a dozen phone calls in the morning. People get *really* upset if they don't get a daily dose of mail around here. (-: Anyway, the exec unlocks & refreshes every list. Short version below. ------8<---------------8<-------------8<----------------- /* runs at 5 AM to be sure LISTSERV is online */ /* ADDRESS COMMAND */ 'TELL LISTSERV ONLINE' 'TELL LISTSERV UNLOCK CONSLINK' 'TELL LISTSERV REFRESH CONSLINK' EXIT -----------------8<---------------------- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Voice: 202-357-4243 Fax: 202-786-2687
