A while ago I asked for advice on how to get a remote mailer from continuing to mail to someone who is not on my list, and bouncing the mail back. Despite every effort I can think of, I have one case still unsolved. I pass on a completed error message, with all the headers attached. History: once upon a time there was a user [log in to unmask] on this mailing list. He was removed. I still kept getting this bounce. Someone is still trying to mail mideur-l stuff to a mayi@cerf, etc.... presumably the same person under a different name. If I try to remove that name from the list, listserv correctly tells me there is no such subscriber. the postmaster at SDSC.edu told me it might be an alias for someone from SDSC. I removed all SDSC users. I still get the bounce. There are no users from vm.usc.edu on the list either. How can a downstream mailer keep using an old list, when I have updated it several times?? What am I doing wrong? --------------------------- From @UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU:[log in to unmask] Wed Jul 7 11:37:25 1993 Return-Path: <@UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU:[log in to unmask]> Received: from UBVM.cc.buffalo.edu by alfred.ccs.carleton.ca (4.1/SMI-4.0) id AA29057; Wed, 7 Jul 93 11:37:17 EDT Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> Received: from UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU by UBVM.cc.buffalo.edu (IBM VM SMTP V2R2) with BSMTP id 1575; Wed, 07 Jul 93 11:34:52 EDT Received: from UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU (NJE origin LISTSERV@UBVM) by UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 4429; Wed, 7 Jul 1993 09:26:56 -0400 Received: from UBVM (NJE origin SMTP@UBVM) by UBVM.CC.BUFFALO.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 4427; Wed, 7 Jul 1993 09:26:56 -0400 Received: from VM.USC.EDU by UBVM.cc.buffalo.edu (IBM VM SMTP V2R2) with TCP; Wed, 07 Jul 93 09:26:54 EDT Received: from Sdsc.Edu by VM.USC.EDU (IBM VM SMTP V2R2) with TCP; Wed, 07 Jul 93 06:27:22 PDT Date: Wed, 7 Jul 93 13:27:23 GMT From: [log in to unmask] Subject: Undeliverable Mail To: [log in to unmask] Comment: reason for return -- Comment: SMTP receiver refused these addresses Comment: the affected addresses follow ...
