I'm talking, of course, about usenet distribution of postings sent directly to usenet. Those sent by mail won't show up on usenet until they've been distributed as list mail and gone through the usenet gateway. >Thanks for your reply. How do most people who have a choice read a list, >via mail or news? I have been assuming most will choose news. I subscribe by mail to the lists I'm especially interested in and read ones I'm less interested in on usenet. I prefer that system because I'm in the habit of checking e-mail many times a day but sometimes go several days without looking at usenet. Probably I would read even more lists on usenet instead of subscribing if I didn't use a filter program on my incoming mail. I have it set now so that almost no list mail shows up in my regular mail space. That means that if I log on for just a few minutes, I can read direct mail quickly without having to hunt for it in the midst of list mail. I have my list mail filtered into separate files. -- Natalie ([log in to unmask])
