I'm the LISTSERV postmaster for NDSUVM1. I'll look into the ROOTS-L
index number shift. However, no notebooks have been manually edited
lately (at least the I know of).

There are two possible explanations besides a LISTSERV bug that I can
think of:

   1. We had a disk failure on Thursday afternoon (11/04/93 around 16:30 CST
or 2230 GMT). I don't think LISTSERV had any minidisks on the disks
that were affected but one was a page volume and could have caused
LISTSERV to terminate at a bad time.

   2. I did move the ROOTS-L minidisk to a different location (it was on
the same volume as a very active minidisk so searches were probably
being affected. But this was done on 11/02 and I had listserv offline
       at the time.

The log files back to ROOTS-L LOG8712 seem to be there and in the index.
I'll let the list know what I find if anything... Marty
