I am co-moderator of H-Urban, a Listserv group at UICVM that is moderated (I forward messages to the list). I have just obtained a co-moderator named Alan in Australia who uses CE Software's Quickmail for Macintosh as his mailer. We have established a test list for Alan to forward postings to. In our initial tests, the following "header" information is added to the *end* of the notes that Alan forwards to the list. The person in the "From" field -- me -- is the one who posted it; in the header that accompanies the note in the proper position, at the top, Alan's name is shown in the From field. ------------------ RFC822 Header Follows ------------------ Received: by muwayf.unimelb.edu.au with SMTP;30 Nov 1993 08:06:06 +1000 Return-path: U20566 <@UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU:[log in to unmask]> Received: from UICVM.UIC.EDU by muwayb.ucs.unimelb.edu.au (PMDF V4.2-14 #4399) id <[log in to unmask]>; Tue, 30 Nov 1993 08:05:53 +1000 Received: from UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU by UICVM.UIC.EDU (IBM VM SMTP V2R1) with BSMTP id 3303; Mon, 29 Nov 93 15:05:16 CST Received: from UICVM.UIC.EDU (NJE origin LISTSERV@UICVM) by UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 2413; Mon, 29 Nov 1993 15:02:31 -0600 Received: from UICVM (NJE origin U20566@UICVM) by UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 4559; Mon, 29 Nov 1993 15:01:09 -0600 Date: Mon, 29 Nov 1993 14:58:50 -0600 (CST) From: Wendy Plotkin <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Test 2 To: [log in to unmask] Message-id: <[log in to unmask]> Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT The header that accompanies the note in the proper position -- at the top of the note -- looks like this: ======================================================================= 54 Return-Path: <@UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU:[log in to unmask]> Received: from UICVM.UIC.EDU (NJE origin LISTSERV@UICVM) by UICVM.CC.UIC.EDU (LMail V1.1d/1.7f) with BSMTP id 5979; Thu, 2 Dec 1993 17:08:07 -0600 Date: Fri, 3 Dec 1993 10:00:29 +1000 Reply-To: TEST Test List for H-Urban <[log in to unmask]> Sender: TEST Test List for H-Urban <[log in to unmask]> From: Alan Mayne <[log in to unmask]> Subject: FWD>Test 2 X-To: [log in to unmask] To: Multiple recipients of list H-TEST <[log in to unmask]> Mail*Link(r) SMTP FWD>Test 2 Is there an explanation for this behavior, and, more important, is there a means of removing the extraneous header at the end of the posted note?
