I and a couple of systems staff share responsibility for four large pop servers that have over 17,000 usernames on them. We do this in our spare time and don't have time to scrutinize all 17,000 po boxes. With that many usernames, we are bound to have many that are inactive. And even worse, we have a number of inactive users who have subscribed to lists on those *darned* (used to be beloved) listserv's. We run ultrix 4.3a and ida sendmail. Our POP environment is mh. No, we aren't running pmdf or mx. To save our spool space, we are about to begin expiring mail in PO boxes that are over 6 months old. However, some po boxes are sure to be receiving heavy list traffic; they'll need more attention that just mail expiration. >>-> So, how do I signoff users who have inactive accounts? We also have begun suspending accounts. >>-> Mail will start bouncing. Is there something that we can put the headers of the bounced mail to assure signoff from lists? I've browsed the logs of this discussion. I still don't the answer to these questions. Can someone describe how to signoff users from our environment? I'm looking for signoff made simple...
