> But seriously - given the general bashing that ListProc has taken on > this list, why does CREN think that it's a marketable item? Or is this > right up there with "directory services"? ;) It has two magic buzzwords: Unix and free. The 'differently minded' people who make up our Lords and Masters read their glossy magazines and see 'Unix' and 'free' and say 'Ah, it must be good. It runs on Unix and doesn't cost anything. Revised LISTSERV runs on that expensive big iron and now it costs real money for the TCP-capable version. Let's move to the free stuff and take a step towards open systems.' - whatever the heck that means this week. IMHO, the cure is worse than the disease. All I can say is I hope CREN insists that the author of Listproc make substantial changes to the way the darn thing works. It's current incarnation has serious problems, both in performance and functionality. > /Valdis
