Actually, LISTSERV-TCP/IP is now generally available. We didn't make a formal announcement because it turned out that US universities in general won't let you quote or even mention them on any kind of qualitative statement, such as "compatibility is good", "we didn't have any problem", "the code works fine", etc. I still have to get used to the extent of the control lawyers have over people's lives in the US ;-) Anyway, the problem was not so much that we couldn't quote the beta-test sites, but that everyone knew we were beta-testing on sites with a lot of traffic and was waiting to hear how it went. People were mostly worried about compatibility - what is the impact, will the users complain, what functions do we lose, etc. If we'd made an announcement making no mention of the beta-test sites, it would have looked like we had something to hide, so we decided to rely on more informal channels such as this list, and on the fact that anyone can send commands to the LTCP servers and see what works and what doesn't.
