I need help to explain why netcom.com is truncating the listserv email address. Also, what can I do about it? Who do I need to contact? TIA, Kathryn Smith [log in to unmask] EXOTIC-L list owner I received the below message from a subscriber on my list: I seem to be unable to reply to or send any messages to exotic-l. When I do, I get a returned message saying unable to locate such address & then it lists the address as [log in to unmask] I know I write it with the u on the end of the address, but somehow it doesn't work.... is it possible that my service provider doesn't recognize that long an address? Do you have any suggestions? Or should I just be content with lurking & reading? I then asked her to send me a copy of the error message, which reads: Ma> From [log in to unmask] Tue Feb 7 00:11:50 1995 Ma> Received: from localhost by netcomsv.netcom.com with internal Ma> (8.6.9/SMI-4.1) id AAA14168; Tue, 7 Feb 1995 00:11:50 -0800 Ma> Date: Tue, 7 Feb 1995 00:11:50 -0800 Ma> From: [log in to unmask] (Mail Delivery Subsystem) Ma> Subject: Returned mail: Host unknown (Name server: gitvm1.gatech.ed: Ma> host not found) Ma> Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> Ma> To: [log in to unmask] Ma> The original message was received at Tue, 7 Feb 1995 00:07:15 -0800 Ma> from uucp@localhost Ma> ----- The following addresses had delivery problems ----- Ma> [log in to unmask] (unrecoverable error) Ma> ----- Transcript of session follows ----- Ma> 501 exotic-l@gitvm1.gatech.ed... 550 Host unknown (Name server: Ma> gitvm1.gatech.ed: host not found) Ma> ----- Original message follows ----- Ma> Return-Path: <[log in to unmask]> Ma> Received: from chrysalis.org by netcomsv.netcom.com with UUCP Ma> (8.6.9/SMI-4.1) id AAA14132; Tue, 7 Feb 1995 00:07:15 -0800 Ma> From: [log in to unmask] Ma> Received: by chrysalis.org Ma> id 0VGX4028 Mon, 06 Feb 95 22:24:04 Ma> Message-ID: <[log in to unmask]> Ma> Organization: Chrysalis * 64 Lines * (214) 690-9295 * Dallas Ma> X-Mailer: TBBS/PIMP v3.25 Ma> Date: Mon, 06 Feb 95 22:24:04 Ma> Subject: FIRST ATTEMPT AT MESS Ma> To: [log in to unmask] Ma> * Original msg to: [log in to unmask] Sp> I see a lot of people complaining that they don't see their own Sp> messages here, so I thought I'd give it a try.
