I have been struggling with the following problem. We have a couple of lists in which subscribers from various mail servers within our local domain (SIU.EDU) have not been receiving their mail. Folks subscribed with BITNET addresses (something@SIUCVMB) are receiving their list mail ok. I set up a test list and subscribed myself from various sources and only my BITNET-subscribed address received the list mail. Here is my list: * * Test List * * Review= Private Subscription= Closed Send= Public * Notify= No Reply-To= List,Respect Files= Yes * Confidential= Yes * Validate= Store Only * Notebook=Yes,X1/200,Monthly,Private * Owner= [log in to unmask] (Adam Floro) [log in to unmask] Adam Floro CA2077@SIUCVMB Adam Floro [log in to unmask] Adam Floro * * Total number of users subscribed to the list: 3 * Total number of local node users on the list: 1 * I only use this list for testing to try debugging list problems. Now, from the above 3 subscribers only CA2077@SIUCVMB received the mail I sent to the list. Immediately after sending the mail to the list, I received the following 2 items from LISTSERV: --- 1st item --- >Received: from SIUCVMB.BITNET by SIUCVMB.BITNET (Mailer R2.07) with BSMTP id > 6336; Thu, 02 Feb 95 11:29:47 CST >Date: Thu, 2 Feb 1995 11:29:46 -0600 >From: BITNET list server at SIUCVMB (1.8a) <[log in to unmask]> >Subject: Message ("Error occurred while processing file 1537 from...") >To: [log in to unmask] > >Error occurred while processing file 1537 from LISTSERV@SIUCVMB: > > Received a transferred file from myself, possibly destined to > [log in to unmask] The destination node ("UICBIT" - assuming it is valid) is > probably not in the routing tables, which you might want to check. --- end of 1st item --- --- 2nd item --- //JNTEST-L JOB Echo=No,Reply-to="[log in to unmask]" //To DD * adam SIU.EDU BSMTP ca2077 SIUCVMB.SIU.EDU BSMTP /* // DIST2 MAIL I=Y FROM=JNTEST-L@SIUCVMB FORW(CRC) HOST(328 328) //Via DD "SIUCVMB" //CRC DD "2-18EE9EA8" //Data DD *,EOF Date: Thu, 2 Feb 1995 11:29:41 -0600 Reply-To: Test List <[log in to unmask]> Sender: Test List <[log in to unmask]> From: Adam Floro <[log in to unmask]> Subject: test X-To: [log in to unmask] To: Multiple recipients of list JNTEST-L <[log in to unmask]> this is a test --- end of 2nd item --- The above 1st item is complaining about UICBIT which is not even defined in our RSCS tables. The above 2nd item was called JNTEST-L MAILDIST and appears to be some kind of "job" that LISTSERV didn't know what to do with and decided to send it to me. The only thing I can make out is that when mail is destined to folks located on our local internet domain (SIU.EDU) *and* are also subscribed to a local list on our bitnet node SIUCVMB, they inevitably don't receive their list mail. This situation is extremely irritating and I'd like to know from someone with more LISTSERV/Internet expertise than I on how to go about either fixing it or how to locate the cause of the problem. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adam Floro LISTSERV Manager Information Technology Voice: (618) 453-6238 Southern Illinois University Fax: (618) 453-5261 Carbondale, IL 62901 E-mail: [log in to unmask]
