A subscriber in Siberia, who is on one of my lists, reports that the server at his university will not dispatch to Bitnet addresses. I am wondering if anyone on this list knows of a convenient way to determine the full internet address of a site, given that site's bitnet address. I can inform him that some are reasonably easy to discern, such as GSUVM1 [which becomes GSUVM1.GSU.EDU in internet form], or MAINE [MAINE.MAINE.EDU]. Others are less obvious, such as PUCC [PUCC.PRINCETON.EDU]. And others are impossible to guess, such as INDYCMS [INDYCMS.IUPUI.EDU]. Since it is not possible, from the site in Siberia to send a HELP command to a bitnet address, and thus get the full internet address, I wonder what those of you on the list could suggest. Thanks in advance. ***************************************************************** * Dr. Dennis McConnell * TEL: +1.207.581.1988 * * Eastern European Enterprise Network * FAX: +1.207.581.1956 * * College of Business Administration * TLX: 62955628 * * University of Maine ************************ * Orono, Maine 04469-5723 U.S.A. * [log in to unmask] * *****************************************************************
