We were running 8.6.12 with no problems on a RS6000-250, doing about 100K
msgs/day.  Two points to check in particular:
 
1) do *NOT* set the "fork each job" flag.
 
2) Try upping the MAXBSMTP value in the go.user script.  We run with 250,
and have locally modified sendmail to allow for more as well...
