It seems reasonable to require that signature blocks be of reasonable size
(my list guidelines are 3-4 lines max) especially when the list is archived.
No one needs to see the same ten-line ascii picture again and again. But,
if an individual is using an employer provided account to participate in
either work-related or private-interest mailing groups, it also seems
reasonable to me that the employer can ask/require identifying information
to be placed in the signature block. URL's or even corporate slogans are
all reasonable, in my opinion. It's not "advertisting" -- it's an acknowledgemet
of the fact that this individual is using an account which is paid for by
the company.
