For a few days ago, I found some very good tools for list owners who neither have root access (like SysAdmins) nor like/know Unix and have a machine under Windows 95: You will be able to do: - LOOKUP (to find out the IP address of a machine); - PING (to find out if the machine is up-and-running); - TRACE ROUTE (to find out where the traffic dies out). Moreover, there is another tool to do WHOIS. Both of the programs are freeware for non-profit purposes and have a very nice and easy interface. They may be retrieved by FTP from FTP.SUNET.SE. Go to pub/pc/win95/telnet. Also, there are some very handy FTP clients for Win95 (look in the directory FTP). Cheers, Aldo-Pier Solari/FISH-ECOLOGY
