>>>From: Peter Rauch <[log in to unmask]> >>>So, my follow-up question still remains: Is the following legal? >>>SEND= access-level,Semi-Moderated,Hold,Confirm I just followed Peter over here from another list, where this issue has caused some hacking to test things... and I'd like to ask a question related to (and which triggered) Peter's question: BACKGROUND: With "* SEND= Editor,Hold,Confirm", the confirmation messages (requiring an OK) don't go to the editor! Well, they do SOMETIMES, but not ALWAYS. I have a moderated list which is subscribed to an unmoderated list, hoping to just OK the msgs which match the moderation charter. When a non-editor posts to the unmoderated list, that list sends a copy to the moderated list, and the editor gets a chance to OK it. HOWEVER, when the editor sends a post to the unmoderated list, the copy which goes to the moderated list is sent back to "owner-unmod_list", which then goes to the list owner as an error message. The owner cannot OK the msg, because the msg MUST come back from the address to which it was sent. QUESTION: Why? Is this a bug? Shouldn't the confirmations ALL be sent to the editor regardless of who submits the message? Did I miss the documentation that indicates some confirmation msgs go to different places when Confirm is used in addition to Hold? TESTING: If I drop the Confirm switch, then posting from the editor's account to the unmoderated list causes the message to be sent to the moderated list, where it is IMMEDIATELY sent out, ignoring the Review setting. An example of the error message is below. I am the owner and editor of both lists, and the recipient of errors-to, etc. I tried sending "ok 396AC3", and I tried spoofing the reply syntax with just "ok" in the message body, to no avail. I just keep getting errors about sending the magic cookie from the wrong address.
