In addition to Ben's advice, the skills that you learn using
LISTSERV brand mailing list manager generates e-mail, but does
so generally more efficiently (in terms of distribution of it)
than simply posting by an individual to a private list of
recipients.  It has the capability of moderating posts from
the recipients back to the list (though that might not be
needed right now).
 
The investment (time and money) that you put into a mailing
list and/or manager such as LISTSERV  can be leveraged
to other lists.
