Hello all,
I have posted a message on this list last week, asking whether Listserv can
parse the From: field. (The idea behind the question was to use the from: field
to automatically add the name of the subscriber as the last parameter on the
SUBscribe command). I got few replies saying that listserv does NOT parse the
from: field, and as this was something I vaguely remembered too, I accepted it
as a fact of life. Now I think I was wrong, and listserv DOES parse the From:
field and uses it. I have asked few users who have never been subscribed to any
of listserv's lists (we run a non-backbone version of Listserv Lite 1.8c) to
send mail to our listserv and subscribe to a list using the command:
"SUB List-Name" (no name entered). When they got the confirmation cookie, it
added their name to the SUBscribe command line.
Is this a hidden/undocumented new feature ?
I'd appreciate also an 'official' reply from Lsoft!
Best,
Moshe

p.s: if this is documented in the "new, 265-page site maintainer's guide" that
has been published lately, I admit I havn't had the time to retrieve it yet,
let alone read it.
