I am owner of list that is peered, and routinely have the "too many hops" message. I will use the short header option when necessary, but usually try to contact the postmasters about raising the hop count. This has had extremly limited success. Sometimes they don't know how, or are hostile to any such change. Usually I hear nothing from them. Occasionally, they will do it though. considering how odd some mailers behave (or are configured to behave), I hesitate to remove any headers that might cause problems with replies and such. -- Joe Kelley [log in to unmask]
