I'm hypothesising here, but my first guess would be that some person on the list has a broken 'vacation' program or similar that is sending stuff to the list, wit broken headers. Most likely, it's sending it back with the From: still set to Listserv, rather than the person running the 'vacation' program. Second guess would be some broken MTA that is getting the SMTP headers (MAIL FROM: and RCPT TO:) confoozled with the RFC822 headers.
