The "You have been added" message (as opposed to our own Welcome message -- currently new people get both) is canned, and I'll have to peruse the list owner's manual (oooh, oooh, Freudian negligee, I typed "lost owner" instead of "list owner" :-) ) to see how to customize it. I've actually taken the liberty of cc'ing this to LSTOWN-L and SJUOWNER. Perhaps someone on either of those lists knows offhand how we'd go about adding that sentence to the canned "You have been added" message, saving me a bit of research. Better yet, maybe someone at SJU (if it's a matter of site configuration) or at L-Soft (if it's a matter of modifying product defaults or a file that ships with the product) will consider making your inserted sentence part of the standard default message.
