It can be handy for turning the list off for a period of time but not just rejecting users' postings. For instance if you want to go on holiday but don't have a substitute list owner lined up, you can simply HOLD the list and then FREE it when you return. It can also be handy if you have a loop going--you can HOLD the list and stop the loop, then shout to the postmaster for help. It's quite honestly one of those commands that you will almost never have to use, but it's there in case you do. Nathan
