In the process of moving a bunch of lists from one server to another, I noticed that alot of the lists have archives that are VERY old (back to the late 1980's). These are lists that are still active, and do need to keep archives, but don't need to keep them *that* long. Therefore, this is a request for a new feature to be added to some future version of listserv. how far how many back to keep * Notebook-Purge= Yes | Yearly | number | <Confirm> No * | Monthly | | | Weekly | | The default for the 2nd field is set to match the value of the frequency in the NOTEBOOK tag. The 3rd field is how many OLD archives to keep (not counting the one currently being written to). The default for the 3rd field depends on the value used in the 2nd. For Yearly, 4 (years) For Monthly, 12 (months) For Weekly, 60 (weeks) note: this would be equiv to approx. 1 year sine there is almost always 5 weeks worth of archives per month! For example: Yes,Yearly,1 - keep 1 year worth of archives (eg 1997 & 1996) Yes,Monthly,36 - keep 3 years worth of archives (July 94 - August 97) Yes,Weekly,20 - keep 4 months worth of archives Yes,Monthly,60,Confirm - keep 5 years worth of archives, but ask the person listed in Errors-To (or Owner) first. Is this a good idea? Is it lame? (Eric) Would it be hard to implement?
