Like all media, there is a certain amount of bloat.  Such bloat might cause
secondary discomfort: network bandwidth and mail server slowdowns, disc
quota problems, etc.  So it is NOT just a simple matter of list-subscriber
preferences.  Any change of operation must be re-evaluated at it goes from
being a niche to widespread implementation.
