This regards a very small mailing list -- maybe a dozen subscribers. One subscriber (Chuck) has trouble replying to list notes -- his replies bounce to the list owner. Chuck uses VM, reads/answers email with CMS commands. I interpret the bounce below to mean that LISTSERV thinks Chuck's reply is in fact a bounce message from Chuck's email host, since the list name is found in Sender/From/To in note body. So two questions: Why is Chuck's email bouncing, since he's hardly the only person handling LISTSERV list email with CMS? Does he need to manually trim the header that's being included in email body? I think he's developed a Pipelines exit to do this, and this may solve the problem. Why does this problem happen to Chuck, and not to AOL list subscribers, since much AOL email seems to include full header text in email body? ----- The enclosed message, found in the HILLGANGD-L mailbox and shown under the spool ID 3379 in the system log, has been identified as a possible delivery error notice for the following reason: "Sender:", "From:" or "Reply-To:" field pointing to the list has been found in mail body. ------------------------ Message in error (35 lines) Received: from VNET.IBM.COM (vnet.ibm.com [204.146.168.194]) by cpcug.org (8.8.4/8.6.12) with SMTP id PAA21950 for <[log in to unmask]>; Mon, 19 Oct 1998 15:01:27 -0400 (EDT) Message-Id: <[log in to unmask]> Received: by VNET.IBM.COM (IBM VM SMTP V2R4a) via spool with SMTP id 1116 ; Mon, 19 Oct 1998 15:01:27 EDT Date: Mon, 19 Oct 98 14:58:40 EDT From: "C (xxx-8724)" <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Reply-To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Test message for testing replies to the list Ref: Your note of Mon, 19 Oct 1998 11:50:14 -0400 (attached) Another test adding Sender: ----------------------------- Note follows ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 19 Oct 1998 11:50:14 -0400 Sender: "HillGang (IBM OSs) Discussion List" <[log in to unmask]> From: Chuck <[log in to unmask]> Subject: Test message for testing replies to the list To: [log in to unmask] I am just submitting this post to the list so that I can have something to reply to from VM.
