There is a difference between what the Probe() parameter of Auto-Delete= does and what the ",Probe" parameter of Renewal= does. * Renewal= interval,Probe This turns on <active> probing. Active probing means that when the renewal interval is reached, a probe is sent out <instead> of the old renewal confirmation request (that had to be answered with CONFIRM listname). Active probing causes the PROBE1 mail template to be sent out (and if that probe bounces, PROBE2 is sent). * Auto-Delete= ...,Probe(nnn) This turns on <passive> probing. Passive probing means that LISTSERV will turn a percentage of regular postings to the list into "silent" probes. If Probe(30) then LISTSERV will, over a period of 30 days, probe everyone on the list (ie it will probe 1/30 of the membership per day). If the passive probe fails then LISTSERV sends out PROBE2 each day (for the number of days in Delay() -- except when Delay(0) is coded, in which case the user is deleted immediately and no probe is sent). As you see there is a difference between the two. You can in fact have passive probing turned on without needing a Renewal= setting at all, and vice versa. Nathan
