Hello Again, This time it is a backbone machine that is causing some minor headaches. We recently moved our backbone machine from an aged NT3.51 installation to a nice reasonable NT4 box with a 266MHz processor and only 64Mb RAM. Everything seemed to be fine. We were seeing deliveries of the order of; Files*users 776500 total size 4604423680 bytes, total items 631391 size 3550297856 bytes This appeared to be in keeping with our previous system, however when we upgraded the listserv software to 1.8d and LSMTP to 1.1b we have found; Files*users 166978 total size 1257888384 bytes, total items 134687 size 979403648 bytes These figures are weekly summaries from munging the log files. Now I am aware of the fact that the logging files changed format somewhat, however I have run some tests using small samples of the log files, the munging script appears to be working just fine. Our backbone just seems to be handling only about 25% of what it was before the upgrade. I have noticed in the SMTP# log files there appear to be a great deal of entries like; 15 Jul 1999 13:24:59 Error opening '6574916.MAIL': Permission denied 15 Jul 1999 13:26:54 Missing DATA order in file '6575189.MAIL'. 15 Jul 1999 13:26:54 *** LSMTP extensions activated *** 15 Jul 1999 13:42:16 Error opening '6575338.MAIL': Permission denied 15 Jul 1999 13:42:16 Error opening '6575338.MAIL': Permission denied 15 Jul 1999 13:42:33 Error opening '6575375.MAIL': Permission denied I understand the permission denied - just a clash of SMTP workers, however what is this Missing DATA error ? and could it be connected ? The configuration did not change to my knowledge between versions and yet we still have this strange problem. Can you help ?
