You didn't miss it, I don't think anyone answered it.  About all I can
do is refer you to a couple of LSTSRV-L postings:

The bottom line is that if you are still running 1.8c after 31 Dec 1999
and have Y2K-related problems, the only fix will be to upgrade to 1.8d.
I hope this doesn't come as a surprise to anyone, we've been saying this
for more than two years now and 1.8d has been available since February.
