In addition to the other fine suggestions you've received, you might suggest to
the University that it might be in their best interest to start serving off
people that complain to them and threaten suits.

If the admin allows themselves to feel threatened with every disatisfied "I'm
gonna sue you" subscriber that comes along, they won't be hosting lists for
very long -)

Still, if the admin won't back you, it will be better to move the list than be
an owner with no authority IMHO.
