I'm not sure about all of the @home sites, but I know that my
particular one is having a lot of problems. I called to find out what
the h*ll was going on. (Being the shy sort of thing that I am.) They
reminded me that they had taken over the lines from TCI and are
upgrading them as fast as they can. The lines were in terrible shape.
I pointed out that the mail service is much worse than the web
service, which is far from being excellent. That is when I got quite
a shock. I live in a suburb of Tulsa, OK. They said the mail server
is sitting in a storage garage in Oklahoma City. I immediately had
visions of the poor thing being infested with cockroaches and having
mice pooping on it. It is amazing that it works at all. I think this
server takes care of all of OK and parts of TX, but I am not sure.
They are trying to get the thing moved to Tulsa so they will have
access to it. I told them I hoped they were also planning to put the
server in a nice clean building! They are hoping to have all of this
accomplished by the end of November.
This may or may not be helpful in explaining the problems with @home.
