This seems really important to me. In a way, it's unfortunate that
it's possible to edit them. What Douglas said:

I can't imagine that, if it were common knowledge that they could be
edited, that listowners wouldn't be spending all their time cleaning
up people's second thoughts . . .
It's very much like deciding that you'll "lightly" moderate a list.
As soon as you do, you're responsible for _everything_. You can't be
a little bit pregnant.
