I assume you meant a s/proc/serv/g there? ;)

What operating system, compiler, and compiler flags are you using?
Does the problem go away if you re-compile without optimization? Also,
double-check your /etc/passwd (you *might* need a 'mkpasswd' command
if your system uses .dir/.pag files to speed the access for getpwnam()
and friends), and the contents of go.user.
I wonder if there's a problem with handling an SMTP 'MAIL FROM:<>' -
you may want to go back and find any incoming bounce messages from other
machines - do they show up with 'From: mailer-daemon@' or something like
'From: l hdp,c dlnm'?
