Pete,
This brings up a question. Has, and can, the listserver be hacked? Not
that anyone would necessarily do so with Poodle-L. (Our topic doesn't
really lend itself to hackers, though we have had people sign up others as a
joke.) And if so, are there any measures to determine if it has occurred?
I too get a lot of names on the probing process that I've never seen on the
list.

Regardless of the legalities, assuming that you can make an e-mail
distributed by a list across the Internet truly private is specious at
best, due in part to the technology as well as the level of care of the
recipient.
