I'd send an email to the owner(s) of all the lists to see if they're being
used. In the past I've trashed a list that hadn't been used in six months
only to have the prof ask for it again a couple weeks later (a list used
for a course offered only one term a year, for example). Trashing ones
that look unused may be counterproductive.
Otherwise, I'd look at the archives and see when the last items were posted.
