Well the command you issued was SUBSCRIBE and even on a list which is set
validate= Yes,Confirm the SUB command has to be treated specially or nobody
would ever be able to subscribe themselves to such a list. There is a very nice
table in Appendix B of the new 1.8d manuals that summarizes the effects of
different Validate= settings on various commands but SUB snd UNSUB remain low
privileged operations even with Validate= All,Confirm,Nopw.
If your exact address is already subscribed to the list then the only thing the
SUB command (or the ADD command by the List Owner) will/can do is to modify the
User Name. So this is what most likely what happened.
