In general, yes.  However, it depends if you correctly delete the archive so
that the archive index files are also deleted.  Then LISTSERV acts as if there
had simply been no posts unitl the next message comes along.

If you are getting so much spam to your list, perhaps you should adjust the
list configuration settings so that less spam makes it to your list.
