Over the last year or so I have had instances whereby someone
(usually from AOL) will subscribe to one of my lists and by the time
I send in the approval (usually within an hour of receiving their
request) their address bounces back to me as "user unknown".
 
Now I know this isn't earthshaking but it is bugging me.  Why does
this happen?  What is someone(s) accomplishing by doing this?
