My test results with 1.8d mirror Dennis'. When "* Send= private" is set
and a message is sent to the list (by me) with
From: a_list_member
To: [log in to unmask]
Resent-From: [log in to unmask]
Resent-To: [log in to unmask]

The message appears on the list as:

From: [log in to unmask]
Comments: Resent-From: [log in to unmask]

If "* Send= Editor" is set, then the "Resent-*" is honored and the
message appears on the list as (irrelevant headers omitted):

From: a_list_member
Approved-By: [log in to unmask]
