In my mail this immediately followed two items from Eric in response to the
person looking for extremely tight list security. One person wanting
absolutely no outsiders and then someone who can't wait for new software
that will allow him easier access as an outsider.
Interesting juxtaposition.

We're sort of taking a wait and see attitiude toward InfoMagnet and its
like. If it causes no problems, fine. But if it looks like commercial
concerns are using it to mine the rich field of our lists, where the
marketing research is already done at no cost to them, we will definitely
think about doing what we can to block such programs. I have been doing
some polls on this on AUTOCAT, and the overwhelming response from our
subscribers is that they do *not* want the list, nor any other list they
may be subscribed to, used for commercial purposes in any way. And that
includes using anything associated with the list for building a mailing
list for snail mail. So, we'll see.
